Greenbelt, 2016
The Greenbelt is the space surrounding a city meant to provide a protection for the countryside against the urban sprawl. The areas around several large UK cities were designated as greenbelt in the post-war period.
This project is an exploration the issues related to the housing supply and urban/rural planning in the context of public policy at a national and local government level. These policies affect the shape of our cities and the relationship with surrounding rural areas.
This dynamic often triggers community activism and from that the wider themes of social and economic inequality are revealed.  This tension has been brought about by decades of managed under-supply of housing which perpetuates the great British housing bubble. I want to explore the diverse perspectives of this issue and the physical impacts on the British landscape.
